SMMA Mistake I see all the time

Don't confuse your prospects

Maybe im allergic to bullshit and can spot this from a mile away

and your potential client wont

but

if you’re a new to the agency space

don’t offer every digital service under the sun.

I get that initially you want to test what works

and bring on anyone that can pay you whatever the amount is for whatever service you can provide

but if you’re in this for the long term here’s the deal:

Focus on one core service that attracts your ideal clients.

Once they’re inside, you can upsell or cross-sell other services.

Regardless of the service:

  • SMM

  • SEO

  • Paid social/search

  • Web design

  • AI automation

You’ll find clients faster when you position yourself as the go-to expert in one thing.

Once someone pays you for that core service

which by the way indicates they trust you

and you deliver a good service and results

you can quite easily compliment your services with the additional services that you otherwise would have had plastered everywhere most likely putting off potential customers.

“Why not offer everything upfront?”

Big agencies do it because they’ve got:

  • A reputation that backs them.

  • Teams in-house to handle the workload.

  • Multi-layered businesses with resources to scale horizontally.

But here’s the thing: You’re not there yet. And that’s okay.

Maybe you just want to offer everything to sign a few clients first.

Throwing every service at a prospect only overwhelms them. They don’t know where to start:

do they need their instagram managed?

do they need to run paid ads on Facebook or Google?

do they need to focus on SEO first?

shall they hire someone to call their leads?

a confused prospect doesn’t take action.

Instead, imagine positioning yourself as the best paid ads agency for roofers (or whatever niche you choose):

Position yourself as an expert in Facebook or Google ads

and on the inside provide the value of offering lead generation across multiple channels

Paid Social to get people maybe considering the work and Search for those actively seeking for their services.

Build out highly converting landing pages.

Go out to your clients and record content for ads as you know what will work best

Which you can also use for content to build out their organic profiles to build trust with their audience

Supplement that with AI tools for appointment booking and AI conversations to turn viewers into leads

That way you don’t need to plaster all of that across your website or your outreach.

you simply need to be the best paid ads agency for roofers (or your niche) get good results for clients, and scale your services vertically instead of horizontally.

This will all be shown across your demo call so it’s not like you hide it till after you sign the client and they’re surprised at the services you offer.

The way you pitch these services also has to be done correctly its not running through the list of we do SEO, SMM, paid ads on google and fb etc.

I might cover pitch decks and demos in another email or yt vid if theres enough interest, let me know if you’d want me to cover that.

but the amount of value you show there to a potential prospect is huge.

Remember they were considering just paid ads on Facebook or Google when they reached out…

Now you’re an agency that has signed a client on £750 management fee for FB Ads, £750 for google ads, additional fees for building out landing pages, additional fees for site visits to record content & ads, monthly retainer of £500 for social media management and £250-£500 for AI Tools & appointment setting.

Building out an entire ecosystem for your client so they never have to worry about the problem they faced ever again.

That’s NOT to say this will be immediate as soon as you sign them or that anyone that enquiries for your services will have £2k marketing budget for your services + ad spend at the start. Eventually you can get to this point though and pretty quickly if you refine your strategies and positioning.

The point of this is to illustrate that you can be very valuable for a few clients instead of constantly looking to sign new clients and churning them each month.
